Hair Loss – Cover Up Your Hair Loss
Saturday, February 18th, 2012If you are having trouble with hair loss, you might want to consider hiding it. Most men take hair loss in stride. But for women, it can be an emotional and socially devastating event. So what can you do to cover it up? Here are a few suggestions I came across:
Hair Style – You should look at changing your hairstyle to cover your balding or thinning areas. Women normally have longer hair and lose their hair uniformly across the scalp. So this is a matter of your stylist shaping your in a way that can cover your thinning areas.
For men in most cases it is not that easy, but there are haircuts you can get to cover up your loss.
The Buzz -This is a super short hair cut.
Faux Hawk – This is good for men who are losing their hair at the temples.
This takes the longer hair at the center, and arranges it so it covers your receding hairline.
Textured Crop – This is where your stylist will take shorter hairs and lay them in such a way as to make your hair longer.
The Comb Over – If you are down to this, you can no longer cover up your hair loss. This is where you take the hair on the sides and comb it over the bald area on top. You cannot cover it up; you just draw attention to it.
Hats – It is acceptable for both men and women to wear hats to cover the bald areas. It is acceptable today for men to wear ball caps in most areas, including some restaurants.
Concealers – These are products that are made of the same stuff that hair is made of.
One such product is Toppik. It works by putting microfiber hairs, keratin, on the scalp where the balding occurs, and makes your hair look fuller. I use Toppik and am quite satisfied with it.
Shampoos – There are many shampoos out there that will make your hair look fuller. Plus there are many that claim they re-grow hair. I would be suspicious of these since most of the minerals and vitamins that are intended to grow hair end up down the drain.
Conclusion – So if you are losing your hair, there are certain things you can do to cover your hair loss. The items you should consider are hairstyles, hats, concealers and shampoos.
